The Unreasonable Man
"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
So, I was watching this video by Veritasium - The Ridiculous Engineering Of The World's Most Important Machine https://youtu.be/MiUHjLxm3V0, where they explain about the crazy science and engineering behind the photolithography machines at ASML used to make the chips.
At the end of the video, they quoted George Bernard Shaw's line about the unreasonable man to emphasize the unreasonable idea of using very short-wavelength light to etch chips.
It took almost 30 years of R&D and technological breakthroughs to make this possible.
What once seemed like an unreasonable idea was eventually adopted and went on to revolutionize the semiconductor industry.
Sometimes, it's the unreasonable ideas that end up changing the world.
A good thought to start 2026.
